Carrie N.'s Story
Life
I am from upstate New York. I came to California to attend college in 1973, and ended up never leaving (although there were a few times I almost did!). A year after college graduation, I married a sweet guy I met on a blind date (set up by his mother) a year before. Soon after, unable to obtain a full-time permanent teaching job, I went into a nursing program and became a LVN. In 1980, my husband and I moved to the Inland Empire, and I became a pediatric nurse. After having our first child in 1983, I worked for another 6 months, and then decided to take a maternity leave of about 10 years, during which time we had another child, this time a son. When our son was of first-grade age, and had resolved separation-anxiety issues, I decided to return to work, but this time opted to return to the education field as an instructional assistant. I've been working for 13 years now in the education field, mostly as an instructional assistant in special education (and wouldn't you know it, my reading has real...Expand for more
ly improved....I don't know about any of the students though!). I really love being around grade school kids - they keep me laughing, and sometimes I get a chuckle out of them too, because they can't believe anyone my age can be so corny! My own children are now young adults. Our daughter is in grad school back East, and our son is still living at home attending the local community college (making me even more neurotic when he comes home late). One day I'd like to write a humorous book about my life, but I always wanted to be a ballerina too (so the book may not happen - since the professional dancer thing has not yet worked out - do they even have professional Weight Watcher ballerinas?). In the meantime, I feel fortunate to have a happy life (even without pointe shoes). I hope this catch-up notice finds all of you also happy. Please drop me a line if you get a chance.
Take Care! Be Happy!
Sad Update: My husband, Greg, died suddenly of a stroke this year (January 25,2009).
